Mission Statement
ComptechPlastic Corporation (CPC) is a “C” corporation and is qualified as a minority/woman-owned corporation. CPC will commit to be prudent in the management of its upcycling efforts by retrieving and processing post-consumer plastics. The process will result in the manufacturing of marketable products by utilizing the most environmentally friendly methods available while creating employment opportunities wherever CPC’s facilities are established.
CPC will endeavor to minimize the deposit of post-consumer plastics into our landfills by committing to provide the most effective educational tools as a means to stimulate public awareness, responsibility, and participation in an effort to maximize diversion of recyclable materials.
Executive Summary
CPC has established numerous contacts with various MRFs located within Southern California and who are more than willing to allow CPC to bid on the excess availability of raw material. Obtaining the raw material to CPC in this manner will incur substantial savings to the participating MRFs since no tipping fee to CPC is incurred. It has been estimated that on an annual basis, of the 1.7 million tons of various types of low-grade plastics that is being disposed, film plastic accounts for approximately 100,000 tons of this total amount. This vast amount of post-consumer plastic film can be converted into numerous varieties of composite wood products.
The implementation of CPC’s conversion process of transforming low-grade plastics into a “higher grade” plastic product is defined as “upcycling”. Therefore, this unique upcycling process further sets CPC’s process apart from among other current composite wood manufacturers.
Taking into account the current strain and demand placed on the natural lumber industry, it is essential to focus on the need to convert this plastic film material into a usable and more durable product. Therefore, it creates a market for the composite materials, which will increase threefold within the next three to five years.
Products/Services
CPC can produce a composite material substitute made from fibrous and post-consumer waste plastic without dependence upon the use of virgin plastic materials. This material can be molded into unlimited shapes and sizes with varying strengths and densities. These products are termite and insect resistant, rot proof, possess a high insulation rating, is sound deadening, comes in varying degrees of fire retardation and can be manufactured in various colors. Unlike wood, this material will not split, splinter, twist, warp, is void of knots, but can be treated and cut exactly like wood with the use of ordinary household tools. In comparison, the product that we manufacture can continually be recycled.
Financial Potential
CPC estimates to generate approximately $5.5 million in revenues annually with the assumption based upon the establishment of one facility utilizing one extruder when processing 45 tons/day, based on a 24 hours/day schedule. Our long-term goal is to establish facilities in the Midwest and where communities are willing to participate in this upcycling effort.
Company Background
Wayne Ford founded Composite Technologies Corp. (CTC) in 2003 after 10 years of experience in the plastic extrusion industry. After several years in the business, Wayne developed a revolutionary and patented process that increases production output and decreases production expenses of the extrusion process. With this realization and the competitive advantage this process and patented technology provides, we are prepared to capitalize on our competitive advantage in the composite manufacturing industry.
After an unsuccessful operation in Tulsa, Oklahoma, resulting from a lack of interest in the recycling efforts throughout the mid-west region, Wayne Ford turned to the State of California for its aggressive recycling program. In 2004, Mr. Ford conducted his first meeting (arranged by one of the investors) in the City of Fillmore, California. Since then, Mrs. Peggy Johnson and Johny Meijer had arranged and accompanied Mr. Ford to attend meetings with California’s Recycling Market Development Zone (RMDZ) and the California Integrated Waste Management Board (CIWMB) Departments.
Since April 2004, many Material Recovery Faculties (MRFs) have been visited to discuss the overwhelming problem with the amount of low-grade and plastic film being collected at California’s landfills. Due to the accelerated level of stress placed on our landfills because of the enormous volume of raw material being discarded, coupled with the shortage of prime land in California, greatly threatens the capacity and shortens the lifespan of existing landfills. Our process was specifically designed to address and provide a solution to this worldwide environmental problem. In addition, multiplied millions of trees would be preserved since our products can be treated like wood except, unlike wood, it is very durable and maintenance free. Considering the high rate of diversion along with its positive impact on the environment, many of these MRFs are ready and eager to participate by assisting us in addressing this environmental concern by providing CTC with the residual plastic film material.
Upon further study, Mr. Ford determined that in order to gain access to the low interest loan that California offers, it would be beneficial to form a corporation in California that would be owned and operated by California owners. Therefore, Mr. Ford had decided that it would be advantageous for Johny Meijer and Peggy Johnson to establish such a corporation in an effort to manage the establishment of facilities throughout California using CTC’s production/process procedures and documents.
Hence, in February 2006, ComptechPlastic Corporation (CPC) was established, with Johny Meijer assigned to the position of CEO/President, Peggy Johnson as Vice President/Secretary, and Wayne Ford as Consultant to CPC. A merger with CTC will be forthcoming when such time is determined to be most appropriate for and advantageous to both corporations.
Business Description
CPC is a corporation registered in the State of California. It is anticipated that with the increasing demand to convert post-consumer plastics continues to be on the rise, so will CPC’s requirement to establish numerous facilities throughout California and abroad.
